Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (August 10, 2009) - The Florida State League announced today that Fort Myers Miracle right-hander pitcher David Bromberg has been named the Pitcher of the Week for the period August 3-9. Bromberg is the fifth Miracle player to be honored this season.
Bromberg pitched a gem in his only outing of the week. He posted a complete game, 7-0, shutout against Charlotte on Friday, August 7. The FSL mid-season All-Star allowed only three hits, gave up two walks and struck out nine batters. The 21-year-old is 11-1 with a 2.44 ERA this season for the Miracle. His next start will be Wednesday, August 12 when the Miracle host the Palm Beach Cardinals.
The league honor comes on the heels of the Minnesota Twins tabbing Bromberg as the organization's player of the week last week. He has won his last four starts allowing only two earned runs over 28 1/3 innings (26 strikeouts).
The Los Angeles resident was a 32nd round pick by the Twins in the 2005 MLB Draft. He led the Twins organization in strikeouts with 177 at Single-A Beloit.
The Miracle return home tomorrow night to open a five-game home stand. Three games with Palm Beach and two with Sarasota highlight the week of baseball at Hammond Stadium.
Great seats are still available for those games and the remaining regular season home games. Tickets can be purchased by telephone at (239) 768-4210 or at the Hammond Stadium ticket office between 9 and 5pm Monday thru Friday.
Fans also may purchase tickets online at www.miraclebaseball.com. The Miracle's online ticket system allows fans to select their exact seat location for each game and conveniently print tickets at home.
Ticket prices are $7 for Box Seats or $5 for General Admission.
