MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Tuesday, August 25th, 2015) -- Minnesota United has teamed up with Baker National Golf Course and Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota to organize a footgolf tournament benefiting Vida Sana- a program that promotes healthy living for underserved Spanish-speaking families.

With the growing popularity of footgolf around the nation, Minnesota United is excited to host a footgolf tournament at Baker National Golf Course September 21st. Fans will be provided with a unique setting to interact with Minnesota United players and coaches.

"We're excited to team up with Minnesota United to support a great cause and promote the sport of footgolf. Footgolf is an excellent way to get kids outside and active. They're having so much fun they don't even realize they're exercising," said Jeff May Senior Manager of Golf Services for Three Rivers Park District, which owns and operates Baker National Golf Course.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to support Vida Sana. Learn more about Vida Sana HERE.

"We are committed to helping families strive for optimal health and wellness. And, we are grateful that Minnesota United is giving the community such an amazing opportunity to support kids," said Sarah Meysenburg, CPNP, who oversees Vida Sana.

"This is a great opportunity for us as players to give back to the community that supports us on and off the field," said Minnesota United midfielder and Captain, Aaron Pitchkolan. "It's great to be able to spend an afternoon outside getting to know our fans and it's such an honor for me and for the club that all the proceeds go to a great organization like Children's and their Vida Sana program."

The foot golf tournament will take place on September 21st, 2015. Participants have the option of beginning their round at 3:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. CDT. Teams are made up of four foot-golfers and a celebrity from the Twin Cities area. All of the pros of Minnesota United will be participating in the tournament along with the coaching staff. Register early for a better chance of pairing with a United pro.

Awards will be given out after each round for the best team score, closest to the pin, best dressed (as determined by our emcee), longest drive and best individual score (golden boot). Drinks and appetizers will be available between rounds.

Early bird registration begins at $250 per foursome, with all net proceeds benefiting the Children's Hospital Vida Sana program.
