Minnesota United FC Signs Serbian-Born Canadian Midfielder Mozesh "Mozzi" Gyorio

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Friday, January 10, 2014) - Minnesota United FC announced it has signed Serbian-born Canadian midfielder Mozesh "Mozzi" Gyorio (moe-zee GEE-oreo) for the 2014 North American Soccer League (NASL) Season. Gyorio last played in the NASL in 2011 for FC Tampa Bay.

"We are very excited about bringing Mozzi onto the team," said United head coach Manny Lagos. "He played against us a couple years ago when he played for FC Tampa Bay and he had a couple really good years and we were always impressed with him."

The 5'11" Gyorio played two years of college soccer at San Jacinto College, where he was a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honorable mention and selected to the NJCAA All-Region Team. Gyorio was named San Jacinto's offensive MVP in his senior year, leading the club with 10 goals and five assists.

While playing at San Jacinto College in 2009, Gyorio played with Major League Soccer's (MLS) Houston Dynamo Academy, scoring seven goals and tallying six assists and took part in the 2009 Dallas Cup. Gyorio represented Canada in the 2009 Francophone Games in Lebanon, subsequently being called up to the Canadian Under-20 National Team pool.

In 2010 Gyorio signed his first professional contract with FC Tampa Bay, making his professional debut against Miami FC on May 1, 2010. Gyorio joins Minnesota after signing a 6-month deal with English League Two team Fleetwood Town in January of 2013, where he made his European professional debut on February 12th against Oxford united.

"Secondly I look forward to contributing my professional services and proudly wearing the Minnesota United FC jersey and most importantly winning matches with my teammates."

The 24-year-old Gyorio joins the club in 2014 as the second offseason signing under the age of 25, accompanying 22-year-old Colombian-American forward Christian Ramirez who officially signed with Minnesota on Wednesday, January 8^th.

"We think we have found a really good up-and-coming pro that is excited to come here and add a big piece to the puzzle that we are trying to fill," offered Coach Lagos on the signing. "We are really excited about him coming to Minnesota."

With the signing of Gyorio, Minnesota United FC's roster for 2014 consists of the following 17 players: Goalkeeper: Matt VanOekel Defenders: Justin Davis, Cristiano Dias, Brent Kallman, Brian Kallman, Aaron Pitchkolan and Kevin Venegas Midfielders: Omar Daley, Floyd Franks, Mozzi Gyorio, Miguel Ibarra, Michael Reed and Kentaro Takada Forwards: Simone Bracalello, Pablo Campos, Nate Polak and Christian Ramirez
