"Our club was very proud to be the first pro sports team to sign the Athlete Ally Pledge and excited to show our continued support for the LGBT community by being the Chief Sponsor of the 3rd Annual Big Gay Race 5K," said United President Nick Rogers. "I look forward to representing our club by participating in the race leading up to our afternoon game against San Antonio."
Minnesota United became the first professional sports team to sign the Athlete Ally Pledge this spring, showing the club's commitment to providing a safe environment for all athletes, regardless of their perceived or actual sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. As part of the sponsorship for this year's Big Gay Race, the club will provide a free ticket to a 2013 home game for all participants in the race.
