SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Thursday) -- Minnesota United defender Damion Lowe has received his first ever call up to the Jamaican National Team as it begins Caribbean Cup play in October. A native of Kingston, Lowe joined Minnesota on loan from the Seattle Sounders at the beginning of the season and has become a regular feature in the United defense.

"It's a dream come true," said Lowe. "Growing up and seeing my dad playing for the national team and in the world cup helped to motivate me. I've been playing well and I've been working very hard and the day has finally come and I can't wait to start."

Though this is Lowe's first time playing at the senior level, he did represent Jamaica at the U20 three times in 2013 and scored a goal during that time.

Jamaica begins its Caribbean Cup title defense with a pair of qualifying games for the 2017 tournament. The Reggae Boyz take on Guyana and Suriname the group stage, with a spot in the 2017 Caribbean Cup as well as the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup on the line. Jamaica's matches will be on October 5th and 11th.
