Minnesota Swarm Signs Free Agent D Andrew Martin; Acquires 2nd Round Pick From Colorado

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has signed free agent defenseman Andrew Martin to a contract. In addition, the Swarm also announced today that the club has acquired a second round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for goaltender John McLellan.

Martin, 27 (8/23/77), spent the last three seasons playing for the Philadelphia Wings before being released on December 21, 2004. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman collected five points (1-4=5), 38 penalty minutes and 68 loose balls in 12 contests with Philadelphia last season. In 42 career NLL contests, the New Westminster, British Columbia-native has notched 18 points (3-15=18), 81 penalty minutes and 243 loose balls. Martin will wear jersey number 15 with Minnesota.

McLellan, 22 (6/27/82), was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on December 10, 2004 and appeared in one game with the Swarm this season. He stopped 29 of 37 shots faced in relief of starter Nick Patterson in Minnesota's, 15-10, loss to the Buffalo Bandits on January 21 at Xcel Energy Center.

The Swarm returns to action on Friday, February 11 when it hosts the Toronto Rock at 7:00 PM at Xcel Energy Center.
