Minnesota United FC News Release

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (February 11, 2013) - Minnesota Stars FC will start the North American Soccer League's 2013 Fall Season the same way they finish the Spring, taking on the Atlanta Silverbacks at NSC Stadium. Stars FC and the rest of the NASL will also welcome the return of the New York Cosmos, one of American soccer's most iconic brands.

"Win or lose during the Spring, I'm relishing the chance to enter August and the Fall championship with a clean slate and a schedule full of exciting match ups," Minnesota Stars FC head coach Manny Lagos said. "I'm also very excited to welcome the New York Cosmos back to the NASL and back to Minnesota in October."

The 2013 NASL Fall Season will feature eight teams playing each other home and away for a total of 56 games between the first weekend of August and the first weekend of November. The team that tops the final standings will travel to face the Spring Season champions in the annual Soccer Bowl on the weekend of November 16 and 17.

The extended season will lend Minnesota a distinct and chilly home-field advantage in the season's later games as the club will play the entire Fall schedule at NSC Stadium in Blaine, Minn. This advantage could come in particularly handy with the club's home finale, an October 26 showdown against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Minnesota's complete Fall schedule is as follows. Kick off times will be announced at a later date.

Saturday, August 3: vs. Atlanta Silverbacks

Saturday, August 10: at Fort Lauderdale Strikers

Saturday, August 17: vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies

Saturday, August 24: at Carolina RailHawks

Saturday, August 31: at San Antonio Scorpions
