Minicozzi, Pavlik Can-Am League Players of the Week

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Worcester Tornadoes INF Mark Minicozzi and New Jersey Jackals LHP Isaac Pavlik (pictured) have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
Pavlik made one start during the week and made it count, delivering a complete game shutout in a 1-0 win over Quebec on August 26th. Pavlik threw 84 of 110 pitches for strikes, and struck out eight while allowing just four Capitales to reach base safely. Pavlik improved to 7-5 with a 3.57 ERA on the season and currently sits seventh in the chase for the league ERA title. The 30-year-old southpaw was previously named Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 25th.
Minicozzi batted .464 on the week with five extra base hits, the biggest coming with a two-run walkoff blast Sunday night to force a series split with Brockton. Minicozzi slugged .893 on the week and reached base safely in half of his plate appearances. Additionally, he drove in seven runs and swatted three home runs. The 27-year-old now ranks tenth in the league in both batting average (.310) and home runs (12).
