Published on August 30, 2010 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Brockton 3, Quebec 1
RHP Freddy Flores was dominant on Monday night as Brockton topped Quebec 3-1. Flores lost a bid for a perfect game with one out in the sixth inning when C Mike Mimeault launched a solo home run, but it was the only hit he would surrender on a night in which he struck out seven Rox while walking none. Flores improved to 10-2 with a 3.32 ERA on the year, and has recorded a win in his last five starts. Brockton scored a pair of runs on solo home runs from 1B Melvin Falu and 3B Phillip Cuadrado, and CF Chris Valencia enjoyed a 3-for-4 night, collecting an RBI on a fifth-inning single. Quebec starting pitcher Karl Gelinas was solid with eight innings of three-run ball, but fell to 4-3 on the season.
New Jersey 6, Pittsfield 2
New Jersey snapped Pittsfield's five-game winning streak with a 6-2 victory. Lefty Jayson Miller fired seven shutout innings for the Jackals, allowing just one walk against four strikeouts to pick up his third win. New Jersey enjoyed a balanced attack on offense as every member of the lineup contributed a hit, led by 3B Abraham Nunez's 3-for-4 showing. DH Carlos Sosa socked a two-run double as part of a three-run seventh innings to cap the Jackals' scoring. Pittsfield rallied for two in the ninth on an RBI double from RF Angel Molina and a passed ball, but ultimately fell short.
