MARION, Ill. - On Wednesday, Sept. 1, four Southern Illinois Miners players will visit the Liberty Village Retirement Home in Marion for a good-natured competition in Wii Baseball.
Outfielders Joey Metropoulos, Jereme Milons and Justin Randall along with pitcher Jake McMurran will represent the Miners against the Liberty Village residents. The games are scheduled to begin between 10 or 10:30 a.m., and then the Miners will join the residents for lunch at Liberty Village.
"We're excited about this special event that can bring young men and senior citizens together for a Wii Baseball game," said Miners Account Executive Dennis Watson, who helped organize the event. "I can speak for the players when I say everyone involved is looking forward to it. I want to thank Liberty Village and Jackie Parker for hosting the event."
The Miners are in the middle of their final six-game homestand of the regular season, which concludes on Wednesday, Sept. 1. For tickets and a complete schedule, visit www.southernillinoisminers.com.
