
Miners Add Big Bat to the Lineup

Marion -Southern Illinois Miners have acquired the playing rights for DH/1B Tim Dorn via trade with Pensacola Pelicans of the American Association. In the return for Dorn, the Pelicans will receive future considerations.
Dorn, a 6'8, 245 lb DH/1B was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 14th round of the 2003 Draft. He spent the 2006 season with the Pensacola Pelicans where he hit a whopping .327 with 24 doubles and 43 Runs Batted In. Dorn also carried a .386 On Base Percentage.
"Tim is a huge addition to our lineup. He brings a strong power presence to the middle of our lineup and will help protect a couple of our other strong middle guys. He has hit successfully at a higher level and I expect him to be a real impact player for us" stated Miners Manager, Mike Pinto.
"With Spring Training rapidly approaching, I am extreme excited about team Mike as assembled. I'm looking forward to watching this team during 2007 season" added General Manager Tim Arseneau.
