Milwaukee scores 20 unanswered points in 4th quarter for the win

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators closed the 2010 season with a 54-47 loss to the National Conference Midwest Division champion Milwaukee Iron, in front of 9,423 fans at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night. The Gladiators finish the year with a 7-9 mark while the Iron take a 12-5 record into the postseason.

Milwaukee controlled the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game. The Iron outscored Cleveland 20-6 and forced three turnovers in the final period. The Gladiators led 47-34 with 14:39, but Milwaukee rattled off three consecutive touchdowns for the victory.

In the game, both Cleveland quarterback John Dutton and Iron quarterback Chris Greisen surpassed the 5,000-yard passing mark for the season. Greisen finished with 204 yards and four touchdowns on 14-of-20 passing to push his season total to 5,146 yards through the air. Dutton completed 27-of-36 passes for 298 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions in the game, giving him 5,104 yards - a career single-season best.

With his touchdown pass to Joe Phinisee in the fourth quarter, Dutton finished the year with 100 touchdowns.. His 100 touchdown passes is a single-season career-best for Dutton, whose previous season-high was 95 touchdowns in 2006 with Colorado.

Five different receivers caught touchdowns for the Gladiators, led by Brent Holmes, who grabbed 10 passes for 103 yards and one score. Phinisee, Victor Williams, TJ Watkins and Jermaine Lewis also contributed with touchdown receptions on the night. Cleveland's defense, which stopped Milwaukee's offense twice on fourth down, was led by defensive back Levy Brown, who had 11 tackles, forced one fumble, and broke up a pass.

Damian Harrell and Tiger Jones combined to catch 18 passes for 190 yards and four touchdowns for the Iron. Back-up quarterback Chris Crane saw significant action, finishing 11-of-24 for 80 yards and a touchdown. Virgil Gray had two interceptions to go along with eight tackles and two pass break-ups on defense for Milwaukee.
