Milwaukee Wave News Release

KANSAS CITY – The Milwaukee Wave swept a back-to-back series against the Kansas City Comets this weekend. In front of 4,376 fans at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, the Wave extended its current winning streak to six games by defeating the Comets, 6-1. Greg Howes recorded his second hat trick in the series, and Nick Vorberg registered another win between the posts, bettering his season record to 15-5.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Wave opened up the second period at 8:08 for the first goal of the contest. Milwaukee's Greg Howes took a pass from Ricardinho for the shot past Kansas City's goalkeeper Sanaldo, keeping up the momentum from last night's effort in which he collected five goals and three assists. Then at 12:59, with only seconds remaining in the power-play, Michael King took a pass from Chris Morman to tally another goal for the Wave. King was positioned close to goal for a quick shot into the back of the net.

Going in to the second half of the match, Milwaukee earned its third goal after Matt Schmidt found Semir Mesanovic at 3:07 in the third quarter. Soon after, Greg Howes collected a hat trick on the evening, scoring at 5:50 and 7:37, assisted by Ricardinho and Morman, respectively. Chris Morman then took the assist from Howes to take the 6-0 lead at 12:32 for Milwaukee's fourth goal of the third period.

Kansas City took a goal past Vorberg at 2:53 of fourth quarter. Jamar Beasley took a pass from Goran Hunjak to tally the Comets first and only goal of the evening. The Comets missed two power-play opportunities (4:57-Keving Burk and 8:58-Mesanovic), and entered a sixth attacker in Armando Valdivia late in the game. Tonight Milwaukee extended its winning streak to six games and came out victorious against Kansas City to sweep the weekend series.

The Wave travels for the second time this month to St. Louis to play the Steamers on March 3 at 11 a.m. After taking the weekend off, the Wave returns home to "The Cell", U.S. Cellular Arena, on March 6 at 1 p.m. to take on the Philadelphia KiXX.
