Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - Hooks reliever Josh Miller has been named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for the period August 6-12.
Miller made three appearances out of the pen and allowed just one earned run over 10 1/3 innings of work, collecting a win and a save in the process. The former North Carolina Tar Heel allowed nine hits and did not issue a walk while striking out 11.
Miller tossed three innings of shutout relief in last Thursday's 11-3 rout of the Travelers in Arkansas to earn his third save of the year. In Saturday's series opener against Springfield at Hammons Field, he was summoned in the third inning for injured starter Brad James and delivered 5 1/3 shutout frames and seven strikeouts in Corpus Christi's 13-5 romp. Miller was credited with his fourth win of the season and 15th victory as a member of the Hooks.
Miller is the franchise leader in both wins and innings pitched (254 1/3), and is now second on the Hooks' all-time list in strikeouts with 166 (Chance Douglass 167; Jason Hirsh 165).
