August 14, 2007 - Texas League (TL1)
Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers will return home on Wednesday, August 15 to begin their next-to-last homestand of the 2007 regular season. The Drillers will host the Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers) and the Midland RockHounds (Oakland A's) in a pair of three-game series that will run through Monday, August 20.
Tulsa will host Midland August 15-17 and Frisco August 18-20. All games in the home stand will begin at 7:05PM with the exception of the game on Sunday, August 19 that will begin at 6:05PM.
The homestand will be again play a key role in the Drillers post-season hopes, as they have only 20 games remaining in the regular season. Tulsa is in a battle with Arkansas for the North Division's second spot in the Texas League playoffs. Springfield has already clinched the division's first spot by virtue of its first-half title, and the Cards currently hold a slim one-game lead over the Travelers in the second-half race and a 1 1/2-games lead over the Drillers. If Springfield also wins the second-half title, the final North Division playoff spot will go to the a wildcard North Division team that has the second-best overall record. Entering this homestand, Tulsa holds a 3 1/2-games lead over Arkansas in the wildcard race. If either Tulsa, Arkansas or Wichita overtake Springfield to win the second-half title, the wildcard race will not be a factor.
The two series with Frisco and Midland will be the Drillers final action against teams from the South Division of the Texas League. The final 14 games of the regular season will include six meetings with Wichita and four each with Springfield and Arkansas.
The Drillers are currently 20-21 against South Division teams, including a 3-6 record against Frisco and a 7-2 mark against Midland. Tulsa was 3-3 against the RoughRiders and RockHounds in a similar six-game homestand earlier this season.
The promotions schedule for the homestand will include Wal-Mart/Pepsi Free Ticket Night on Wednesday, August 15, Elvis Night/Thirsty Thursday on Thursday, August 16 and Library Reading Night/Drillers Backpacks on Friday, August 17. A complete listing of promotions is below.
