
Mill Rats Get Back on Winning Track 124-108

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats got back on the winning track by handling the Island Storm, 124-108, at Harbour Station.
The Mill Rats got out the gate strong the first quarter holding at 32-16 advantage before leading 32-20 after one. The Island Storm struck back and closed to within 54-49 at the half.
The third quarter saw Doug Herring Jr begin to take over the offense and when he wasn't scoring, he found Ricky Volcy knocking down repeated treys. Saint John led 85-77 heading into the final stanza. As Herring and Volcy continued their run, Gabe Freeman chipped in with back to back three pointers and the lead bloomed to over 20.
New signing Jabs Newby contributed 5 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds in his Mill Rats debut to go with stellar defense.
Herring Jr lead the Mill Rats with 30 points and 14 assists, Ricky Volcy had 26 points and 15 rebound, Gabe Freeman 23 points, Corey Allmond 17, Anthony Stover 11, and Anthony Anderson 10. Brian Addison led the Storm with 22.
The Mill Rats improve to 4-3 while the Storm drop to 2-5.
The two teams make the trek to Charlottetown tomorrow for a 2PM AST rematch at Eastlink Arena.
The Mill Rats return to Harbour Station on Thursday to face the Halifax Hurricanes at 7PM.
