London Lightning News Release

(LONDON, Ontario) - The London Lightning announced Saturday 6'6" veteran swingman Akeem Wright has been signed to the team.

"We are really excited to bring in Akeem. He's a proven player with experience all over the world, including a very successful stint in our league a few years ago. His leadership and skill set will have a tremendous and immediate impact on the court and the fans in London will love him," said head coach Kyle Julius.

A Philadelphia native, Wright played collegiately at Kansas State and has played in Finland, Spain, Ukraine, New Zealand, Argentina and most recently in Sweden where he averaged 16 points and seven rebounds per game.

Wright will dress for the Lightning's game in Orangeville Sunday afternoon against the A's.

The Lightning have also activated Canadian Taylor Black and have placed Jeremy Wise and Kevin Loiselle on injured reserve.

"London is a great organization with a history of winning," said Wright. "I have wanted to be a part of the Lightning since I played for Oshawa during the NBL's first season. Everyone knows the Lightning are the Lakers of Canadian basketball with the atmosphere and incredible fan support at the games, plus London has a reputation for taking good care of their players. I'm thrilled to be here and I'm ready to work - I'll do whatever the team needs me to do, anything the team needs to win."
