
Mill Rats Drop First of Two Road Games

(Halifax, NS): The Saint John Mill Rats dropped the first of two road games against the Halifax Rainmen at the Metro Centre this weekend, 98-91. The two teams will tangle again at the Metro Centre on Sunday at 2PM.
The Mill Rats came out clicking behind 3 threes from Anthony Anderson in the first quarter and built a 22-11 lead. The Rainmen closed the quarter on a 5-0 run to cut it to 22-16. Halifax took a 45-39 lead into the intermission.
Anderson was blazing out of the gate in the third period hitting the first 10 points for Saint John on 4-4 from the field. The Mill Rats went into the fourth quarter trailing 67-66.
In the fourth quarter several miscues and missed free throws turned a 79-76 Mill Rats lead with 6 minutes left into a deficit with time running out. The Rainmen made their free throws down the stretch to prevent a miracle comeback by Saint John.
The game saw the debut of Eric Crookshank in a Mill Rats uniform. The veteran forward looked energetic and added 4 points and 9 rebounds.
Anderson led the Mill Rats with 32 points, Jermaine Blackburn 18, and Raheem Singleton 14. George Good had 15 to lead Halifax.
The Mill Rats record falls to 10-8 while the Rainmen improve to 3-14.
After Sunday's road game, the Mill Rats return home for a rematch with the Miracles on New Year's Eve at 7PM on Tuesday December 31st.
