Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
MILWAUKEE (May 16, 2012) - The Mustangs face another tough test and some familiar faces in Week 11 as the Georgia Force comes to the Bradley Center for a 7 p.m. start on Friday night. The Force (5-4) sit on top of the South Division and are riding a two-game winning streak.
Georgia is led by quarterback R.J. Archer, a name that should be familiar to Mustangs' fans. Archer showed promise while playing in 13 games for Milwaukee last season. In seven games with Georgia in 2012, Archer has completed 129 of 210 passes for 34 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
The product of William & Mary missed Georgia's 44-41 win over Tampa Bay last week because he was attending a Detroit Lions mini-camp. Archer's favorite target has been Larry Shipp. The wide receiver is among the league leaders with 78 catches, 926 receiving yards, and 19 scores.
Georgia hasn't been been explosive on offense, and the Force average just 46.6 points a game. But for the second week in a row, the Mustangs (3-5) will be tasked with scoring against one of the league's best defenses. Georgia is third in the league in scoring defense, allowing a paltry 50.1 points per game.
One of the reasons for the stingy defense is Tracy Belton. The defensive back, who played with Milwaukee in 2010, leads the AFL with 10 interceptions.
Milwaukee should have plenty of support from the home fans on Friday as the Mustangs host Military Night. Armed Services personnel just need to show their military ID to get $13.50 tickets (discounted from $23.50). Two dollars from each ticket purchased will benefit Operation Homefront Wisconsin, which provides financial assistance and other support to military families. A military tug of war is scheduled for halftime, and the Mustangs' players will show theirsupport by sporting cool camouflage jerseys. Fans with HOG cards can also claim the $13.50 discount tickets.
Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in the Bradley Center and will be featured on Time Warner Cable Sports32. Listen tothe play-by-play on 540 ESPN and Espnwisconsin.com with announcer Bill Johnson. To purchase tickets, visit Ticketmaster.com, call 800-745-3000 or visit the Bradley Center box office.
