Denver Dynamite News Release

9/4/08 - Denver, CO, Southern Colorado Soccer Club announced that Mike Thompson has been named as head coach of the Denver Dynamite professional arena soccer team, who are scheduled to kick-off their inaugural season the first weekend of November in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro).

Thompson brings a history of success to Colorado, after coaching the Wenatchee Fire to two conference titles in the team's first four years of existence in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier), which is the official development league of the PASL-Pro.

The Dynamite are looking for Thompson to replicate that success on the professional stage. "We feel extremely lucky that we were able to snag Coach Thompson" said team President Peter Randall, "He has shown he can build an extremely competitive team in a very short period of time. We are counting on his ability to duplicate, and surpass, his remarkable achievements in Wenatchee."

"I am excited to come to Colorado, and Denver is a great city." saod Thompson. "It has a fantastic sporting culture, and with soccer in particular. I am excited to have the opportunity to build a winning a team and am confident that we can do so with the local talent that I've seen." But that will be no easy task, as the Denver Dynamite will be competing against teams across North America, including the Stockton Cougars (formerly of the now defunct MISL), Detroit Waza (PASL-Premier 2008 league champions) and Thompson's former club, the Wenatchee Fire, who have been promoted to the professional ranks.

"Wenatchee Fire is a great organization and I wish them success, but I am excited to come here. I was fortunate to enjoy success in Wenatchee and am certain I can bring that to Denver," Mike Thompson said when asked about his previous team.

"We have no doubt that Mike has the ability to build us a winning team," Randall commented, "it is up to us as a management team to build him a solid foundation. That is our challenge. Thompson has shown he can succeed when given the opportunity. His standards for us are just as high-if not higher- as our expectations for him."

The Denver Dynamite are a founding member of the PASL-Pro, which contains teams across the United States, Canada and Mexico. League play begins October 25 and continues through to the international finals March 14-16 in Stockton, CA. The team plans on holding open tryouts September 20-21 in Denver, CO ahead of their preseason camp's opening on October 1. Home games are played Saturday nights at the Denver Sports Center (capacity 1500) in Denver, CO. Tickets are on sale now. Visit www.denverdynamitesoccer.com for more information.
