Mississippi Braves News Release
Hoover, AL- For the second night in a row, the Braves had no problem scoring runs as they beat Birmingham 10-5. Michael Daniel belted a grand-slam to give Mississippi an early 6-0 lead and the Braves wouldn't look back the rest of the way. Julio Teheran was able to win his third game of the season.
The Braves scored their first run in the 2nd inning when Mauro Gomez was plated on a single from L.V. Ware. The Braves left the bases loaded in the inning, but they wouldn't make that same mistake in the 3rd. Leading 2-0, Michael Daniel came up to the plate with the bases loaded and crushed a pitch over the right field wall for a grand-slam. It gave Mississippi a 6-0 lead.
The Barons had solo homers in the game from John Shelby III and Jim Gallagher. Despite the homers, the Barons never got closer than when the score was 7-4, Mississippi. The Braves pulled away with a run in the 8th and two more in the 9th inning. Mycal Jones, Mauro Gomez, Christian Colonel and L.V. Ware all had multiple hit games as the Braves tallied fourteen total knocks. On the mound, Kyle Cofield and Richard Sullivan pitched the final four innings in relief for the Braves.
Tomorrow is the third game of this four game series and it will start at 5:05. The Braves are scheduled to pitch RHP Tim Gustafson (4-3; 4.72) against Birmingham's RHP Angel Garcia (1-5; 6.57).
