Miami FC Trio Earns Team of the Week 11 Honors
May 24, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Miami FC News Release
Miami, Fla. - The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 11, and three Miami Football Club players were selected. Forward Adonijah Reid, attacking midfielder Florian Valot and defender Othello Bah received the honors after Miami FC's 1-1 home draw against Detroit City FC and 4-0 away victory against Charleston Battery last week.
Othello Bah - Defender
The Liberian international scored a brace - the first by a Miami FC player this season - against Charleston Battery on Saturday.
Bah's first goal came in the fifth minute, with him slotting a driven shot past goalkeeper Joe Ryan Kuzminsky and into the second post side netting. The 27-year-old's second goal - Miami's third of the night - dawned at the 35th minute, finding himself in the exact position when he scored his first. However, he changed things up by lobbing his shot over the keeper. Effectively, the ball glided into the top right corner of the net.
Bah also helped Miami earn a shutout, playing as a left-wing-back for all-90 minutes. He completed 33 out of 37 passes and won seven out of 13 duels.
Florian Valot - Midfielder
Valot wore the captain's armband for the first time against Charleston and opened his goalscoring account with Miami FC.
The Frenchman produced a powerful shot outside the 18-yard-box that beat Charleston's goalkeeper to his bottom left corner. The goal arrived after a frustrating one-all draw against Detroit City FC on Wednesday, where the attacking midfielder created five chances without any luck.
Moreover, Valot notched his third assist of the season. The 29-year-old played a nicely-weighted ball into Bah's path for him to score his second goal of the night.
Adonijah Reid - Forward
Reid had an eventful week, scoring an equalizer late in stoppage time to help Miami to a 1-1 draw against Detroit City FC on Wednesday and registering a couple of assists in a 4-0 win against Charleston Battery on Saturday.
The Canadian international came in as a substitute in the 62nd minute against Detroit. He managed to beat goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher with the last kick of the game to bring Miami fans to their feet at FIU Stadium.
On Saturday, 22-year-old earned his first start of the season. He dished out passes to Bah for his first goal and Valot for the second of the game.
Up next for Miami FC
Miami FC returns to South Florida to face Pittsburg Riverhounds on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
