
Miami FC to host the Chrleston Battery on Saturday

May 1, 2009 Miami, Florida- Miami FC will play its fourth home game of the season as they host the Charleston Battery, Saturday May 2nd at 8pm at Lockhart Stadium. The Blues are coming off their best start ever, winning two of their first three games, including its first-ever victory against CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinalist, the Montreal Impact. Miami FC currently in second place in USL-1 has two more home games before hitting the road for the first time this season on a three-game road trip . The Battery is still looking for its first win of the season after drawing their first three matches.
Head coach Zinho will be able to count on one of Miami FC's leading goal scorers, Diego Serna, who is back in the starting 11 after having served a one-game suspension. Blues offensive midfielder Leo Inacio has been upgraded to probable after suffering a light muscular strain earlier this season.
"It's going to be nice to have the entire group at our disposal, but I am more excited to see the group after an excellent week of practice. I'm happy with what the team has done in such a short amount of time, and we are looking forward to the game on Saturday," said head coach Zinho.
Charleston Battery's head coach, Mike Anhaeuser, will be able to call on defender Yenil Bermudez. Bermudez is another Cuban defector that has found a home with a USL team. He was the captain of the Cuban Olympic Team and defected during last year's Olympic qualifying tournament.
The Blues and the Battery played three matches last year, splitting home and away wins and tying the third game. The Battery is coming off an excellent 2008 season finishing second in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Champions, DC United, participated in the Concacaf Champions Leagues in which two USL teams finished in the top eight.
Cristiano Dias was honored as a member of the USL Team of the Week
Miami FC defender, Cristiano Dias, was named as one of the members of the USL Team of the Week. Cristiano Dias led the Blues to an emotional victory over the Montreal Impact on Friday, April 24th. The Brazilian defender has been part of the team's nucleus since 2007.
