Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
Miami, Sept 16, 2010- Miami FC will play away from home for the final time this season to take on the Rochester Rhinos on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Marina Auto Stadium. The Blues will look to finish their road schedule with three points on the road before returning to South Florida for the remainder of the season.
This will be third meeting of the season between the two clubs after the two teams fought to a 1-1 draw to open the season on April 10 at Lockhart Stadium and the Blues fell to the Rhinos by a score of 3-1 in Rochester on Aug. 21.
The Blues will return and finish the season with a three-game home stand beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 22 against AC St. Louis.
SCOUTING ROCHESTER
The Rhinos soundly defeated the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies with a 3-0 shutout on Sept. 11 at home.
After applying pressure for most of the first half, the Rhinos finally broke through with goals from Jonathan Greenfield and Isaac Kissi in the final minutes of the first half.
Rochester put the game well out of reach when Alfonso Motagalvan delivered the ball to Tyler Rosenlund who calmly found the back of the net to extend the Rhinos lead to 3-0.
As a team, the Rhinos have been one of the more consistent teams in the league this season both offensively and defensively. The team ranks second in goal production (35) and second in keeping opposing offenses from scoring, allowing just 20 goals as a team.
Kissi leads the Rhinos offense with six goals scored this season with Ryan Heins and Anthony Hamilton have four goals each.
The victory over the Rowdies helped Rochester pass the Austin Aztex in the standings, putting the Rhinos in first place.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blues picked up an important 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact at home on Sept. 11 to help Miami FC gain some momentum heading into the final road game of the season.
Toward the end of the first half, Chukwudi "Chuky" Chijindu linked up with Danilo Martins and was left with enough space to get off a good shot. Chijindu was fouled during the shot and Miami FC was awarded a free kick.

The second half provided more physical and attacking play than the first half. In the 51st minute, Montreal's Ali Gerba had a close shot from the top of the box which was saved by Miami FC's keeper Matt Glaeser. Later on in the 53rd minute, Montreal would get their goal by way of sub Eddy Sebrango off a chip pass from Gerba.
Miami FC's game-winning goal was scored by Abe Thompson on the 83rd minute after a brilliant pass from J.P. Rodriguez. Thompson made brilliant run and the ball dropped right inside the box, Thompson calmly put the ball away giving the Blues a dramatic three points.
