
Miami FC Announces 2010 Schedule

Miami, FL February 8th 2010 - Miami FC of the newly formed NASL, has announced its complete 2010 schedule for the upcoming 2010 USSF Division II season. The Blues will play a total of 30 games, half at home and half away. Miami will also play in the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup on either June 15th or 16th.
Miami will open its season on Saturday, April 10th against the Rochester Rhinos. The Blues will start the season with a four game home-stand that includes matches against the MLS bound Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday April 17th, and the debut of the Florida derby when the new FC Tampa Bay Rowdies visit the Miami FC Blues on Saturday, March 1st.
"With the announcement of the schedule, the 2010 season is definitely upon us. We are excited to kick off our fifth season and are happy with the way the schedule worked out. With a heavy front- ended and back ended home schedule, the format suits the beautiful weather here in South Florida and also gives the club a great opportunity to kick off and close out the season in front of our fans," said Miami FC president, Aaron Davidson.
Also included is a second four-game home stand from July 25th to August 7th. This home stand
will feature the second home game against cross-state rivals FC Tampa Bay Rowdies on Sunday, July 25th as well as a crucial match-up against Miami's Caribbean rivals, the Puerto Rico Islanders on Saturday, August 7th.

As part of the release of the schedule the USSF also provided details of the playoff format for this season. The 12- team league, consisting of two conferences of six teams has adopted the following format:
* The first place team (based on total points, at the conclusion of the regular season) in the USL Conference and NASL Conference will become the top two seeds in the playoffs.
* The next six (6) best teams, based on total points, will round out the playoff field.
* The four teams with the fewest total points in the regular season are excluded from the playoffs.
* Playoffs will begin during the week starting Monday, October 4.
* First round will be a two-game, home-and-away series determined by total aggregate goals.
* Semifinal round will be a two-game, home-and-away series determined by total aggregate goals.
* Championship will be a two-game, home-and-away series determined by total aggregate goals.
* Exact dates for playoff games are TBD.
