Rochester Rhinos News Release
Rochester, NY... The Rochester Rhinos in conjunction with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) today announced their 2010 schedule. Each of the twelve teams in USSF Division II will play a total of 30 league games, 15 home and away contests. The regular season will begin on April 10 and conclude on October 3.
The Rhinos will kick-off their 15th season of play on the road in Miami on Saturday, April 10 and finish the regular season in St. Louis on Saturday, October 3 against AC St. Louis. The home-opener will be Saturday, May 1 against the Carolina RailHawks at Marina Auto Stadium. The Rhinos schedule is composed of home and away matches against all 11 opponents in the USSF Division II, plus additional home and away matches against Carolina, Crystal Palace Baltimore, Montreal and Miami FC.
The 12-team USSF Second Division, consisting of two six team conferences, has adopted the following playoff format:
The first place team (based on total points, at the conclusion of the regular season) in the USL and NASL Conference will become the top two seeds in the playoffs.
The next six (6) best teams, based on total points, will round out the playoff field
The four teams with the fewest total points in the regular season are excluded from the playoffs.
Playoffs will begin the week starting Monday, October 4th.
All three rounds of the playoffs will be two-game, home and away series determined by total aggregate goals.
The Rhinos home schedule includes
three Friday matches, ten Saturday matches, and two Wednesday matches. A complete list of promotions for the upcoming season, Lamar Hunt US Open Cup dates and additional exhibition matches will be released at a later date.
