Mexican Women's National Team to Face Houston Dash at Shell Energy Stadium in Inaugural MexTour W on April 11

NEW YORK CITY & MEXICO CITY - The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) today announced that the Houston Dash of the NWSL will be Mexico's opponent for the previously announced MexTour W match on Tuesday, April 11 at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston. The Mexican Women's National Team will also face the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, April 8, at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local) at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois in the tour's inaugural match.

Tickets for both MexTour W matches are on sale now via Tickets.com and SeatGeek.com for the Chicago and Houston matches, respectively.

The Mexican Women's National Team is currently ranked 35th in the FIFA World Rankings. Spanish Head Coach Pedro Lopez took the reins during Fall 2022, focusing on reaching the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. The team is captained by Real Madrid defender Kenti Robles, Mexico's longest-serving player. Standouts on the roster also include top LIGA MX Femenil scorers like Tigres forward Stephany Mayor, Club America forward Kiana Palacios, and midfielder Scarlett Camberos. Other top players for the Mexican Women's National Team include Houston Dash forwards María Sánchez and Diana Ordóñez from the National Women's Soccer League.

In September 2022, the Mexican Women's National Team won the inaugural edition of Copa Angelina, an annual competition played against Angel City FC in Los Angeles. In February of this year, the national team also captured the first edition of the Women's Revelations Cup tournament championship in Mexico.

The 2023 season marks the 10th campaign for the Dash since joining the league as the first expansion team in 2014. Houston made their first postseason appearance last year in front of a sold-out crowd on October 16. The team finished fourth in the standings last season with a 10-6-6 record, their best mark in league play to date. Led by new head coach Sam Laity, who brings a decade of experience to Houston and the first-ever general manager in team history, Alex Singer, the Dash aim to bring the first NWSL Championship to Houston to go alongside their 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup title. The Dash train at Houston Sports Park as the team continues to prepare for the season opener on March 26 at Shell Energy Stadium against Racing Louisville FC.
