
Mexican Midfielder Gabi Gonzalez Re-Signs with OC Blues FC

IRVINE, Calif.- Orange County Blues Football Club is pleased to announce the re-signing of midfielder Gabriel "Gabi" Gonzalez. Gabi was born in Nayarit, Mexico and has lived in Oxnard since 1996. He attended Hueneme High School, where he is currently coaches. His college career took him to Oxnard College and Cal Baptist, where he earned MVP of The Golden State Athletic Conference in 2008.
Gabi, 26, scored a total of six goals, four assist in 24 matches last season with LA Blues. " We have chemistry and great friendships. I believe we can win a lot of games this year," said Gabi, who's looking forward to the New Blues Era, the inaugural season with OC Blues FC, where he is glad to be reunited with many familiar faces from last season.
"Signing Gabi Gonzalez brings us another starter from our squad in 2013. He is an important piece to our midfield. His size and athleticism will be important to our squad. He was one of the players that showed a continual progression throughout the season and has full potential and ability to help us compete for a Championship." - General Manager Jon Spencer.
OC Blues FC's first home match at Anteater Stadium at UCI is set for Saturday, April 5th, as the Blues welcome expansion franchise OKC Energy FC. The Blues 2014 season begins on Saturday, March 22nd at StubHub Center in Carson, for a match against the newly formed LA Galaxy II.
