Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo running back Jerome Messam has been named Gibson's Finest Canadian Player of the Week for his two touchdown performance against Hamilton on Saturday.
Messam rushed 17 times for 104 yards (6.1 yard average) and two touchdowns in the Esks' regular season home opener.
"It was a good game on Saturday," says Messam. "The O-line did a great job and opened up some holes for me and I just ran the ball well. The team's looking forward to this next game against BC. We have two wins under our belt. It feels good and we have a lot of confidence going in."
The Eskimos (2-0) host the BC Lions (0-2) on Saturday, July 16 at Commonwealth Stadium. Kickoff is at 5:00pm.
