
MercyMe to Play Fair Grounds Field on July 2

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Christian artist of the decade, MercyMe, will play an Independence Weekend concert at Fair Grounds Field on July 2, the Shreveport-Bossier Captains announced today. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., with gates opening at 6, and feature a postgame fireworks show in honor of America's 234th birthday.
Tickets for the concert go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 21, and are available at the Fair Grounds Field office or via phone at 318-636-5555. More information is available at the Captains' Web site at www.sbcaptains.com Tickets start at $20 for the fixed stadium seats. On-field seating (with lawn chairs and blankets welcome) is $30, Terrace Tables are $50 per seat or $200 per four-person table, and the third-floor Captains' Club is $75 per seat, which includes the all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet and a chance for a meet and greet with MercyMe before the concert. Field and GA seats are an additional $10 the day of the concert.
"I feel like it was a calling from God to bring this event to northwest Louisiana and help minister to the people" said Stephanie Fruge of the Good Karma Music Foundation, who is putting on the concert.
The full Fair Grounds Field concessions menu will be available at the concert, and the SWEPCO/Party Central Family Fun Park will be open for kids to enjoy as well.
Landry & Company and a collective area church choir will be among the opening acts for MercyMe.
"This is a great way for families to enjoy the start of the Independence Day Weekend," Captains VP/General Manager Craig Brasfield said. "It's hard to beat a great band and a fireworks show under the stars to start the weekend."
Sponsors of the concert include KSLA-12, the Radio Group, the Shreveport Times, Wipe Your Paws, Dr. Shane Barton, Professional Graffiti and Bayou Contractors Services.
The Shreveport-Bossier Captains continue their six-game homestand with a three-game showdown with the second-place Grand Prairie AirHogs, starting Friday, June 18, at 7:05 p.m. Stick around after the game for a Christian concert as part of KSLA-12 Faith and Family Night. All games are broadcast on ESPN Radio, KRMD-1340 AM as well as streaming live on supertalk1340.com.
