Mercury's Murriel Page To Undergo Surgery

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury today announced that forward Murriel Page will undergo surgery this morning to repair a torn Achilles tendon in her left heel. Team physician Dr. Gustavo Armendariz will perform the surgery at Gateway Surgery Center in Phoenix.

Page signed with Phoenix on Monday, May 18 and suffered the injury during the first practice of training camp.

The 11-year veteran owns career averages of 6.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 354 games. She led the WNBA in field goal percentage in 1999 and 2000, becoming the first of two players in league history to do so in consecutive years (Tamika Williams, 2003-04). The 6-2 Florida product has notched 8,463 minutes in her career, good for 18th on the WNBA's all-time list for total minutes.
