Phoenix Mercury Sign Shay Ciezki to Rest-Of-Season Contract, Saylor Poffenbarger to Developmental Contract

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury have signed guard Shay Ciezki to a rest-of-season contract and guard Saylor Poffenbarger to a developmental contract, the team announced today. Ciezki was most recently on a developmental contract, while Poffenbarger was on a seven-day contract.

Ciezki has averaged 9.4 points on 55.6% shooting (50.0 3FG%), 2.0 assists and 1.8 rebounds in five games with the Mercury this season. Over the last two games, she's averaged 18.5 points, tallying 15 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds on Aug. 29 against Toronto, followed by a career-high 22-point performance in Portland on Sept. 17. Ciezki scored 17 of her 22 points in the third quarter against the Fire, the most by a Mercury rookie in a quarter in franchise history and tied for the second most by any rookie in WNBA history.

Poffenbarger signed a seven-day contract with the Mercury on August 25 after appearing in five games with the Chicago Sky earlier this season. Poffenbarger has appeared in two games with Phoenix, scoring her first career WNBA points in a win at Portland on Sept. 17.
