Memphis 901 FC News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 FC announced Tuesday the club has signed defender Carson Vom Steeg to a multi-year contract, pending league and federation approval.
"I'm very excited to continue my career with Memphis 901 FC next season," Vom Steeg said. "Head Coach Stephen Glass has a great record of player development. Along with a talented core group of guys and a winning culture, the decision was an easy one. I'm looking forward to adding to the recent success in efforts to bring a championship to this city."
Vom Steeg made 21 starts at center back for Loudoun United FC during the 2022 season, recording 117 clearances and 43 interceptions with 88% passing accuracy.
The Santa Barbara, California, native served as captain for the U.S. U-18 Men's National Team from 2015-2017 before making 18 appearances for the 2017 NCAA National Champion Stanford Cardinal. Vom Steeg then transferredto UC Santa Barbara, where he made 22 appearances in two seasons.
"Carson is a young defender that we believe has great upside moving forward," Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. "He has great size, physicality and likes to get stuck into a challenge. We look forward to Carson getting to Memphis and helping us win games in 2023. "
Vom Steeg joins a backline with Graham Smith and Rece Buckmaster for the 2023 season, kicking off with a matchup against Loudoun United FC on March 11 at AutoZone Park.
