Memphis 901 FC News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Winners of four-straight matches, Memphis 901 FC continues its home stretch tomorrow night at 7:00 against fifth-place Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
After ending Saint Louis FC's five-match winning streak Saturday night, Memphis boasts the longest winning streak in the Eastern Conference and is one of two teams in the entire USL Championship that has won four or more matches in a row, along with Orange County SC.
On Saturday, Marcus Epps found the back of the net off a corner kick by Cam Lindley in the 54th minute to account for the match's only scoring. The goal came as a result of a halftime adjustment on set pieces and was set up perfectly letting Epps put it home across the front of the net. 901 FC goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell and the Memphis defense weathered multiple Saint Louis threats down the stretch and finished off the club's first clean sheet since an Aug. 6 match at Saint Louis FC.
As a result of its four-match winning streak, 901 FC has moved from 17th place before the Atlanta United 2 match on Aug. 28 to 12th place and eight points away from the final playoff spot in the conference.
Tomorrow's match is a makeup of a match on May 18 that was postponed after the first half of play due to inclement weather in Memphis. 901 FC and Pittsburgh played earlier this season on Aug. 3 in Pittsburgh, which was a 4-0 win for the home side.
After tomorrow, 901 FC remains at AutoZone Park to face 13th-place Bethlehem Steel FC on Saturday night at 7:00. After that, Memphis has upcoming matches against 2nd-place Indy, 15th-place Charlotte, 11th-place Charleston, and 6th-place Louisville to finish the regular season.
