Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 FC announced on Monday the club has acquired midfielder Samuel Careaga on loan from Argentinian Club Atlético Lanús, pending league and federation approval.

"Samuel comes to us having played top-flight football in Argentina," 901 FC Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. "We are very appreciative of Club Atlético Lanús for trusting us with Samuel's development. We are getting a player that will make us better right away and we look forward to Samuel contributing in a big way as we enter the last stretch of the season."

The 21-year-old midfielder joins Memphis on an 18-month loan as one of the top prospects in the top level of Argentinian soccer. Careaga has made 20 appearances for Atlético Lanús as a defensive-minded midfielder since signing with the senior club in July of 2022.

"Samuel's top-level experience will help him settle quickly," 901 FC Head Coach Stephen Glass said. "We are looking forward to having him help us in the final stages of the season."

The new addition will be available for selection in Memphis 901 FC's match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. at AutoZone Park.
