Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - McMorran Place and the Port Huron Icehawks are joining forces for a special offer for hockey and music fans. Starting today, anyone purchasing a ticket to the Third Eye Blind concert Thursday, March 25 at the McMorran Arena Box Office will receive two free tickets to see the Icehawks take on the Bloomington PrairieThunder Tuesday, March 30.
Third Eye Blind will be the first national rock act to hit the McMorran Arena stage in more than 30 years, according to McMorran Place general manager Randy Fernandez. The band sold more than six million copies of its self-titled debut in 1997. Their fourth album "Ursa Major" was released in August 2009 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The Port Huron Icehawks are in the midst of a push to the International Hockey League's Turner Cup Playoffs. Currently third in the standings, the Icehawks are just one point behind the Fort Wayne Komets for second place and home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Tickets to the Third Eye Blind show range from $27 to $57, with more than half of the seats at the $27 price point.
"We think this is a great way to further our partnership with McMorran Place and offer fans two exciting entertainment options for one low price," said Dave Goetze, Icehawks Vice President/Business Manager. "To be able to see a multi-platinum rock band and an extremely important Icehawks game for less than $30 is a great opportunity."
Fernandez has stated in previous interviews that the success of events like the Third Eye Blind show can help determine if more national acts are brought to McMorran Place in the future.
To take advantage of this special offer, tickets must be purchased at the McMorran Arena box office at 701 McMorran Blvd. in downtown Port Huron. For more information, call the box office at 810-985-6166.
