Flint Slips Past Mallards 2-1

MOLINE, Ill. (March 17, 2010) - Dan LaPointe scored the game winning goal at 11:25 of the third period and Sergei Zvyagin made 29 saves the host Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, fell to the the Flint Generals 2-1 Wednesday night.

LaPointe pounced on a rebound to snap a 1-1 tie after the Mallards had battled back to even the score earlier in the third period. Justin White skated across Flint goalmouth to score the equalizer at 4:08 of the third.

The Generals first jumped in front when Tyler Howells buried Pascal Rheaume's cross-ice pass from the left wing circle at 11:38 of the second period.

The Mallards visit Fort Wayne Friday night before returning to action on home ice Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m. against the Flint Generals. The Mallards will team with Genesis Health System to hold their 15th Annual Jersey Auction to benefit the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House after Saturday night's game. The Mallards will wear their special edition black third jerseys during the game and those sweaters will go up for bid in the live auction immediately after that contest. Saturday evening is also John Deere Community Night. Courtesy of John Deere, tickets for Saturday night's game are available for just $5.
