Erie Otters News Release

The Erie Otters have announced that forward Greg McKegg was one of 22 players selected to represent Team Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Under-18 Championship set for April 13-23 in Belarus.

McKegg is the fourth player in Otters history to play for Team Canada at the Under-18 Championship, joining Ryan O'Reilly (2009), Zack Torquato (2007) and Ryan O'Marra (2005). This will be McKegg's second experience with international play, having represented Team Ontario during their gold medal run at the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

The native of St. Thomas, Ontario completed a breakout season for the Otters as he tallied 85 points (37g, 48a), which was 11th in the Ontario Hockey League. His 67-point improvement after the previous season was the most for any player in the OHL. He represented the Otters along with Torquato at the 2010 All-Star Classic in January.

McKegg was one of 13 players from the OHL selected to the Canadian squad, and the league boasts the most representatives on the team. Of those 13 players, McKegg is the highest scorer.
