Utica City FC News Release
Utica, N.Y - Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri called for a short-term consumption ban on Milwaukee's Best beer as the Milwaukee Wave - the MASL's lone unbeaten team comes to the Adirondack Bank Center to take on the Utica City FC.
The Milwaukee Wave is 4-0 in league play, while UCFC, which is 5-1 in league play, remains unbeaten at home with a 4-0 record. He noted that while both squads can take great pride in their on-field success, they can also boast about the rich beer brewing history that exists in each city.
Mayor Palmieri stated, "Much in the same way Saranac Brewery and Utica Club beer are linked to our great City and culture, Miller Brewing and Milwaukee's Best are tied to the Cream City. We will do whatever it takes to support Utica, Utica City and Utica Club-- our iconic beer brand; even it means banning rival beers."
Palmieri said that in order to give Utica City FC a boost, he issued a proclamation that "Milwaukee's Best beer will be banned in the Adirondack Bank Center, and its consumption will be discouraged throughout the city between the hours of 2:00 PM- 6 PM Sunday."
"We believe that we have the best soccer team, and the best beer, and both will shine brightly on Sunday."
