Mavericks Settle for Split with Bisons

SETX Mavericks split games with the Defending ABA Champs, the Kentucky Bisons this weekend. The Mavs & Bisons continued the hottest rivalry in the ABA by putting on two classic games in Owensboro, KY.

The Bisons won the opening game on Saturday night 101-93. Kenny Jones and TheAnthoney Haymon led the Bisons with 23 and 22 points.

On Sunday afternoon the Mavericks blew open a close games in the fourth quarter to win 123-103. Josh Pace and Jermaine Blackburn led the way with 34 and 28 points respectively.

ROAD TRIP:

The SETX Mavericks took 3 of 4 games on their longest road trip of the season. The Mavs defeated the #1 rated team in the ABA Power Rankings, the Music City Stars and defeated two other rated teams on their road trip to the mideastern USA.

SETX Mavericks (11-2) - Music City Stars (6-2) - Bluegrass Stallions (7-6) - Kentucky Bisons (6-6)

MAVERICKS SUPERLATIVES:

* Anthony Lumpkin scores game winner with 2.2 seconds to play vs Bluegrass Stallions.

* Jon Rogers scored 18 points, pulled down 8 rebounds, & blocked 3 shots to help secure the win vs the #1 rated Music City Stars.

* Josh Pace & Jermaine Blackburn combined for 34 & 28 points respectively to lead the Mavs to their 3rd victory in 5 nights.

* SETX Mavericks Head Coach Steve Tucker won his 500th game of his career vs the Music City Stars in Nashville, TN (Coach T's record all-time in the ABA moves to 91-22 in 4 seasons).

MAVS NEXT GAME:

The Maverucks will come home on Thursday night January 14th to host the North Texas Fresh at Ford Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
