INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Tonight the Missouri Mavericks look to make it three straight home wins on the heels of last night's 5-4 overtime comeback win over Wichita. Tonight's matchup is Game 5 in the "Visit Independence, Visit Wichita" Cup with the Mavericks and Thunder tied at two wins each.
WHO: Missouri Mavericks (13-15-5) vs. Wichita Thunder (11-16-2)
WHAT: Season Game #34, Home Game #14, "Visit Independence, Visit Wichita" Cup Game 5 - presented by Visit Independence. The Mavericks are 2-2-0 in the series. The winner at the end of the season will recieve a trophy and $2,000 donated to its local youth hockey organization.
WHEN: Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 7:05 p.m.

CHECKING THE RIVALRY
The Mavericks are facing the Thunder tonight for the fifth of 14 meetings in this season's "Visit Independence, Visit Wichita" Cup and the second of eight at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The Mavericks pulled even in the series last night thanks to a 5-4 overtime win. The Mavericks bounced back for five unanswered goals after giving up the first four. It was their biggest comeback of the season. The Mavericks face Wichita at home eight times over the final three months of the season, which could help them gain control of the series. Missouri was 6-0-1 at home against Wichita last season and is 9-2-1 when hosting the Thunder dating back to 2014. The Mavericks' win last night gave them back-to-back wins at home for the second time this season. They have not strung together three at home to this point
ONE-TIMER * Dane Fox ranks third in the ECHL with 156 shots on goal. He is averaging 4.9 shots per game and has five shots or more in six of his last seven games. He is on pace for a club-record 351 shots this season.
