Old Orchard Beach News Release

Lynn, MA- The Mavericks lose the first game of the doubleheader 8-3 despite another Homerun by Scott Dejong (UConn).

Scott Dejong accounted for 3 of the Mavericks' five hits driving three runs in the process. Dejong, who was 3-3 on the day, has 5 RBIs in his last two FCBL contests driving in the go-ahead run in yesterday's 5-4 loss to the Pittsfield Suns.

The Mavericks starter, Lucas Olen (Southern New Hampshire), went 4.1 innings giving up five runs, nine hits, and two walks while striking out 2 batters. Brendan Mulligan through the remaining 1.2 innings three runs on four hits while striking out 2 batters.

Josh Desai (Suffolk University) starred for the Navigators on the mound pitching 5.2 innings and giving up three runs. Desai was very tough to solve before the sixth inning where the Mavericks plated three runs. Desai struck out four batters while walking two on his way to earning the win. Josh Michalec (Baylor) pitched the final 1.1 innings earning the save for the Navigators.

Offensively, the Navigators got a big boost from designated hitter, Jake McGuiggan (Harvard) 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs and his second homerun of the season. McGuiggan added a stolen base for the Navigators in one of his better performances of the year.
