Maurice Leggett Re-Signs with Columbus

Columbus Lions News Release

Maurice Leggett, one of the leaders on last year's dominant Lions defense, will be returning for the 2022 NAL season. Leggett has not been named a defensive specialist, so in accordance with the NAL Ironman rules, he will be featured in the offense as well.

Leggett returns as a key piece of a Lions defense that was near the top of the league in every major category during the 2021 season. The Lions forced 30 turnovers, 18 of them being interceptions with the defensive backs leading the charge.

An injury against the Sharks in their June 19 matchup kept Leggett out for over a month, but in his return he led the entire team in tackles with nine. This performance earned him the Air Force Reserve Defensive Player of the Week award and showed how valuable he is to the defense.

Leggett will return to a new era of NAL Football with the Ironman rules changing the game.
