Montgomery, AL – Kristi Holt, an intern with the Montgomery Maulers, has won a spot to compete in the 2005 Miss Alabama pageant.

Holt is the current Miss Phenix City, which gave her the opportunity to compete in the Miss Alabama pageant. These pageants are a part of the Miss America Scholarship program.

Holt's platform is DIG Awareness, which stands for DARE, ISAFE, and GREAT. Holt created this platform to help establish positive relationships between law enforcement officers and youth with the main issue being Internet safety for children.

Holt is a student at Auburn University majoring in communications and a minor in criminology with a December 2005 graduation date. At Auburn University, Holt is a Dunkin' Darling, the official hostesses of both basketball teams and was also selected to be a part of the Auburn University Modeling Board.

With the Maulers, Holt helps with game day operations and promotions, community appearances, public relations and ticket sales.

"This is a demanding internship where you learn everything about how to run a successful sports franchise. Kristi has proven herself on a daily basis with her enthusiasm and work ethic to be very successful in this industry," Maulers PR/ Ticketing manager Keith Lueck said.

The Miss Alabama pageant will be held June 8-11 at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., with the winner moving on to compete in the 2005 Miss America Pageant.
