Maulers Announce New Head Coach
February 26, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Montgomery Bears News Release
David Daniels takes the helm as the new head coach of the Montgomery Maulers as announced at a press conference this week. Daniels ran the very first player tryout for the Maulers before the first head coach was ever named. That was before James Shiver was named to lead the team last year.
James Shiver, who led the Maulers to a division championship last year was not able to return to coach the team this year. Owner Jamie LaMunyon said Shiver has family commitments at home in Louisiana and "just cannot be here". "We'll miss Coach James but at the same time we're excited with the indoor football experience Coach Daniels brings to the team." she said.
Daniels has seven years of experience as a player, coach or executive in professional indoor football leagues. He'll keep assistant coaches Mike Williams, Carlos Clayton and Kevin Stokes. The coaching staff has already had several planning meetings this week and expect to make announcements soon regarding practice schedules.
The Maulers first game is March 25 at Garrett Coliseum when the Chattanooga River Sharks come to town. Ticket information is available on line or at the Maulers office 334-277-1881.
