Matrix top Frenzy

Montreal, Canada. The ABA Montreal Matrix defeated the Boston Frenzy 115-80 at the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre. Montreal took an early lead, going up by 27 points at the end of the first half. They never looked back and finished with the second highest point total for the season. Guards Bobby Miller and Denburk Reid led the way for the Matrix. Miller finished with 29 points while Reid dished out 8 assists.

It was an exciting game as Montreal Matrix guard Manix Auriantal was named to the ABA All-Star game scheduled for Saturday, Feb 11th in Florida - and it was announced to the fans during the game. The announcement drew a standing ovation. "It feels great," said Auriantal. "I'm just trying to do my best to represent Montreal." Auriantal is the first Canadian to hold the honor.

Still 3rd in the Roger Brown Division standings, the Matrix record now stands at 9 wins, 10 losses. Montreal has won five of its last six games. Philippe Langlois, injuired during Thursday's practice, did not participate in the game and will be out of action for the next two to three weeks with a broken collarbone. The Matrix, playing three games in as many days over the weekend, will also face Long Island and Boston.
