Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON - After making history last weekend by punching their ticket to the semifinal stage of the Amway Canadian Championship and setting themselves a date with the Vancouver Whitecaps, Fury FC will now quickly change gears as they prepare a visit by the Jacksonville Armada FC on Sunday afternoon.
The clash between the clubs at TD Place marks the first time the two teams have played each other since October, when a 3-1 win at Community First Park clinched Fury FC's first-ever Fall Season Championship.
Ottawa is undefeated in three lifetime matches against Jacksonville with a record of 2W-1D-0L while outscoring the opposition 5-1.
Coming off its bye week in the NASL, Sunday's match will see Ottawa kick off a stretch of six matches in 21 days which will end with the Spring Season finale on June 11. Despite an intense game against FC Edmonton on Wednesday, Fury coach Paul Dalglish isn't worried about fatigue being a potential factor.
"We will be ready, we had plenty of time to recover from a 90-minute game," said Dalglish. "We are in a good little run at the moment in the league and we need to make sure that we take that momentum into this game. They have a lot of attacking tools and they are much better than their position in the league shows, so it's going to be a difficult game for us but we will be ready."
After a slow start in the 2016 NASL campaign, Fury FC were able to turns things around in the past few weeks with the help of the crowd at TD Place, which always provides the team with a boost of energy and confidence. Midfielder Lance Rozeboom has been thrilled with his experience at TD Place so far and is looking forward to another home game on Sunday.
"Our fans are so passionate and so far I had nothing but great experiences at TD Place," said Rozeboom. "We love the fans, we appreciate their support and this is one of the best places where I played. We gained a lot of confidence and momentum from playing in front of our fans and I'm looking forward to Sunday."
