Charleston Battery News Release

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery (4-1-0) squares off with the Rochester Rhinos (4-0-0) Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6:00 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM. The Battery enters the game looking for a fourth consecutive win following last Friday night's 4-0 victory over Antigua Barracuda F.C. Saturday's match will be broadcast live on 1450 AM with a the pre-game show starting at 7:15 PM.

Rochester and Charleston are tied for second position in the USL PRO standings with both sides sitting on twelve points. The Rhinos have an opportunity to take a three point lead over the Battery as they will play the Charlotte Eagles on Friday night in the first match of their weekend trip.

Battery midfielder's Jose Cuevas and Nicki Paterson both scored in the 4-0 win over Antigua and share the Battery points lead with three goals and two assists each. Forwards Sallieu Bundu and Dane Kelly also both scored as the Battery registered four goals at home for the first time this season.

Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra was largely untroubled in the game and did not record a save as he earned a third consecutive shut-out. Dykstra is with the Battery on-loan from Major League Soccer's D.C. United with both of Charleston's rostered goalkeepers Alec Kann and Kevin Klasila sidelined through injury.

The Rochester Rhinos under new head coach Jesse Myers have got off to a flying start in the USL PRO season winning all four games they have played without conceding a goal. The Rhinos most recent match was a 1-0 win versus the Charlotte Eagles in a game played last Saturday night in Rochester.

The Battery have enjoyed a long rivalry with the Rhinos extending back to the 1998 season; Saturday's game will be the 35th all-time meeting between the clubs. In 2011 the Battery lost twice to Rochester, 1-0 at Rochester (05/07) and 1-0 in the return fixture at Blackbaud Stadium (07/30). Rochester leads the all-time series with 16 wins to the Battery's 10; 8 games have finished tied.
