Match Preview: Charleston Battery Faces League-Leaders Orlando City

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery faces the league-leading Orlando City Lions Thursday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM. The Battery (11-6) enters the game in second place in the USL PRO standings but is ten points behind Orlando (13-1-4). The game versus Orlando will be broadcast live on 1340 AM with the pre-match build-up starting at 7:15 PM.

Charleston has played one game fewer than Orlando City and the Battery's next two games are against Orlando.

Charleston defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads by a score of three goals to one in its last match played on Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium. Navion Boyd, Dane Kelly and Nicki Paterson all tallied to lead Charleston over the Hammerheads.

Paterson 's goal was his ninth of the season; he leads USL PRO in goals scored (9) and points (20).

Orlando has enjoyed a tremendous season so far; in addition to being undefeated at home they have lost just one game all season. Orlando and Charleston share the best defensive records in USL PRO; both teams have conceded just 13 goals.

Orlando 's offense is led by second year forward Dennis Chin with 8 goals in 18 games played.

This is the second of three games the teams will play this year. Orlando edged Charleston 2-1 back on June 9 in a game played at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The teams will meet for the final game next Friday night in Orlando (7:30 PM / 1340 AM).
