Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United returns to action Saturday as the club hosts New England Revolution in its 2024 MLS home opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The match is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while fans can also tune-in to radio calls on 92.9 The Game and La Mejor.
Atlanta holds an all-time record of 4-4-4 against New England in MLS play: 3-1-2 at home and 1-3-2 on the road. This is the first of two meetings between the teams in 2024 as Atlanta will travel to face New England on July 3 at Gillette Stadium.
In 2023, Atlanta finished second in goals scored in MLS with 66 and led the league with 42 goals scored in home matches. The club's goal-scoring record in home matches has been a strength since joining MLS. When Atlanta has scored two or more goals at home, the team owns an all-time record of 81-7-23.
Saturday's match features the top-two playmakers in MLS in terms of assists-per-game among active players with at least 30 assists. Thiago Almada has recorded 31 assists in 61 games for an average of .51 per game and led the league with 19 assists in 2023. Gil is next among active players with 63 assists in 135 games for an average of .47. Those numbers rank Almada and Gil third and fourth in MLS history, trailing only Carlos Valderrama (.65) and Marco Etcheverry (.53).
